Doug Murray is a hard working Systems Engineer who invariably understands exactly what a project needs are, and how to get it to completion effectively. During our 8 years working together on medical device development projects, he effectively managed the evolution of our architecture. Doug is creative, solution-oriented and an excellent communicator of architecture and design. He was frequently able to come up with new and innovative approaches. One example is our new middleware technology which he effectively introduced.

Doug played a critical role in setting up our Proton Therapy business at Varian Medical Systems. He organized the software engineering effort and did a tremendous job driving the system's architecture to deliver our flagship system.

Doug is an extremely creative and innovative engineer, providing elegant, extensible and reliable software solutions for very complex medical devices. He has provided documents, designs and software of outstanding quality on every project I’ve worked with him. He understands and communicates the high level picture, but also the depth of technical detail as well. In particular, his motion control solution (ARGOS) allowed Philips Medical Systems to significantly shorten its development time for completely new medical devices. ARGOS is deployed in thousands of medical devices on multiple platforms, each new platform only requiring minor configuration changes supplied to ARGOS.

Doug’s unique approach to building system requirements, design and managing teams has helped to create a long list of successful products for companies of the like, as ADAC, Philips and Varian. One example of Doug’s work he was able to design and develop the integrated architecture for SPECT and PET imaging systems. He had brought together the complexities of gamma ray scintillation imaging, quantitative cardiac binning algorithms, user interaction and motion control into a complete and elegant design package.
